Customer Training And Education
As mentioned in the previous letter, July 1, 2009 will begin a period of many changes in the Onsite industry across Virginia. Changes will include systems, design, evaluation, installation, monitoring, maintenance and the way licenses are issued and recognized.
The licensing body, DPOR (Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation) for Onsite contractors has now made the final forms and regulations available. Simply log on to the website below. Forms are also available from your salesperson; and at VAMAC throughout the state:
Couple of key points to remember:
The DPOR Board interprets the legislation to require one licensed individual be present on the job site when the duties of the licensed practitioner are being performed.
- Licensing will be required for all: AOSEs, Onsite System Installers, and Onsite System Operators (Maintenance Providers) or any other contractor performing an install, repair, replace or service on Onsite Systems.
o The new license is in addition to any other applicable contractor license that an installer and/ or operator are required to hold under the contractor’s board.
o Onsite contractors licenses have two categories and two class types:
- Installer or Operator (categories)
- Alternative and/or Conventional (classes)
- Contractors choosing to do both installation and maintenance will have to apply for and meet the criteria for both Installer and Operator License(s). Contractors applying for Alternative credentials will be able to work on both Alternative and Conventional systems. Contractors applying for Conventional, will only be able to work on Conventional systems (no pre-treatment or pressurized distribution).
